Disciple Now Weekend

by Joshua Turley
October 11th, 2011

November 11th -13th

Time: Students must arrive at the church building on Friday, Nov. 11 at 6:00pm.

Grades: 7th-12th grade students.

Cost: $35 per student. Pay by check or cash. Make checks payable to “High Pointe Baptist Church” and put in the memo “DNOW.” Each student will receive a T-Shirt based on the theme of the weekend. All housing and meals are included in this cost.

Registration Deadline: Sunday, November 6th.

Where to Register: You can register and pay at the Information Table after the Sunday morning service, you can register and pay at Wednesday night Bible Study, or you register and pay anytime throughout the week during normal office hours.

Medical Release Form: A medical release form must be filled out by the parent/guardian of the student attending DNOW. You can pick up the medical release form at the DNOW table in the foyer or download here.

Purpose: The purpose of the weekend is to gather students and leaders together to draw closer to Christ through the study of God’s Word, singing of songs, and enjoyment of Christian fellowship. It is a wonderful opportunity for students to grow in their faith and to invite their unbelieving family and friends to hear the good news of Christ, perhaps for the first time.

Theme: The theme is “God is the Gospel.” The emphasis here is that the greatest news of the gospel is God himself—seeing and savoring him in all his glory. We will have small group Bible studies, singing of songs, preaching, and even a video contest, all with “God is the Gospel” as the main theme.

Host Homes: The students will break into groups and stay in the homes of church members for the weekend. At the homes, the students will gather for Bible study and discussion sessions. On Fri. and Sat. night, the students will all gather at the church for worship through singing and preaching. On Sat. night, we will have the video contest where each group’s video will be viewed and judge by a panel of “expert” movie critics.

Leaders: For a full list of the leaders, ask Josh Hayward. There will be two leaders per host home (not including the host family). These leaders are responsible for guiding Bible study sessions, supervising the students, and driving the students to and from the host home. PLEASE NOTE: There will be some college age leaders helping out, but every group will have at least one adult who is 25 yrs or older. This does mean, however, that some college age leaders will be driving students to and from the host homes. If this is a problem, let me know ASAP.

What Students should Bring: See the “What to Bring” sheet. PLEASE NOTE: The students will all wear our DNOW t-shirts and jeans to the Sunday morning worship service.
