LIFE CLASSES

What are Life Classes?

“Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.” Colossians 2:6-7
Life Classes are semester-long classes designed to equip and establish believers (both youth and adults) in various aspects of Christian life and doctrine. Multiple classes are offered on Sundays at 9:00 am in the spring and fall, while only one class is offered in the summer.

Spring 2019 Life Classes (February 3 – May 5)

THE GOSPEL PROJECT – OUT OF EYGPT (grades K-5)

If your children have not yet been involved in The Gospel Project during LIFE class time, or have picked up anywhere along the way, they will not want to miss out! This Spring we will study a Christ-centered journey through Genesis and Exodus. We invite all kids, grades K-5, to attend!

SUPERHEROES CAN’T SAVE YOU
(grades 6-12)

“The bad ideas about Jesus, at least the popular bad ideas, don’t turn him into an evil monster.  No, they are just subtle changes or misunderstandings about the Lord that make him more comprehensible, more domesticated, less intrusive, and less demanding…And here is what I have discovered: Every bad idea about Jesus can be illustrated by a superhero.” (Todd Miles) Most people might not know or care about Docetism or Apollinarianism, but these heresies, as well as many more, are true threats to the Christian faith that tend to creep into our thinking as we try to understand who Jesus is. This class, based on Todd Miles’ book by the same name, will seek to expose these heretical teaching in a way that is more understandable by illustrating them with well-known superheroes and show who Jesus really is according to Scripture.

BIBLICAL MANHOOD AND WOMANHOOD

God has created man and woman equal, yet different. What does this mean? What does it look like? How does our understanding of manhood and womanhood from the Bible influence the way our homes look? What are the roles of women in the church? What are the roles of men in the church? How does our understanding of these roles influence the way we engage with the world more broadly? How do singles put on display biblical manhood and womanhood when a lot of the practical examples seem to favor the marriage relationship? These are the types of questions we will seek to address over the Spring semester. We invite you to join us as we seek wisdom and understanding, as well as be challenged from God’s Word on this issue.

THE TEN COMMANDMENTS

For nearly two thousand years, the Ten Commandments have been one of the primary tools for Christian discipleship and catechesis. Yet what do they mean to us today? Do they matter? How should we obey them? Join us this semester as we consider how to love God and neighbor through the Ten Commandments.
