HPBC Student Ministries
Student Ministries Mission Statement: We exist to see all peoples (including young people) become whole-hearted followers of Jesus Christ by reaching unbelievers, gathering worshippers, and making disciples to the glory of God.
Partnering with Parents: It is our desire at HPBC to see young people grow in their faith and persevere under the pressures of this world. Therefore, we are committed to equipping parents to effectively shepherd their own children, along with the shepherding provided by the church. We do not usurp or replace the vital role the parents play in the spiritual growth of their children. We are committed to partnering with parents to see to it that, by the grace of God, “we may present everyone mature in Christ” (Col. 1:28).
Grades: 7-12
Wednesday Night Bible Study: We gather together every Wednesday from 6:45pm-8:30pm to sing worship songs, listen to the Word preached, and break up for small group discussion and prayer. On occasion we will dedicate an entire evening to Q&A where students can ask several pastors of the church anything they would like related to the Bible, theology, relationships, evangelism, etc. Wednesday Night Bible Study is a great opportunity for students to grow in their knowledge of Christ and meet other like-minded students who take the things of the Lord seriously.
Leadership: The Student Ministries of HPBC is led by Josh Hayward, along with several committed volunteer members from the church. The volunteers range from mature college students to well-established career men and women who have servants’ hearts and are willing to involve themselves in the lives of the students.
Discipleship: HPBC Student Ministries is committed to intentional discipleship. The leaders are deliberate in creating a culture of discipleship. We encourage students to have consistent and regular meetings with those further along in the faith to discuss ways in which Scripture is relevant to common life issues. We also encourage the students to build discipleship relationships with each other so that they can spur one another one toward love and good deeds (Heb. 10:24).
Events: We periodically have events throughout the year ranging from camp retreats, mission opportunities, Disciple Now Weekend to just informal gatherings at someone’s house which all serve to advance our mission statement to see all peoples become whole-hearted followers of Jesus Christ. We avoid doing anything that does not serve this purpose.
