For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” – Mark 10:45
We serve because we have been served in the greatest way by our Lord Jesus Christ. This frees us to serve joyfully, not for personal gain, but to glorify God and work for the flourishing of others. Look below at the many opportunities there are to serve at High Pointe and contact the designated point person if you’re interested.
Please note that all volunteer positions are for High Pointe members only. Some of the volunteer positions require you be a member for 6 months before serving.

Ways to Volunteer

Children’s Ministry

Please note: All children’s workers must complete High Pointe’s Child Protection screening process prior to serving. This includes a 6 month membership minimum, a background check, and our one hour child protection training.
  • Sunday Morning Nursery Worker: Currently, we need 2 two-year old workers and 2 baby room workers. If interested, email Erin Wyman.
  • Sunday Evening Nursery Worker: We need 3 new Sunday evening nursery workers. This volunteer position is monthly. If interested, email Erin Wyman.
  • Nursery Floater: To maintain proper ratios, sometimes we need to bring in an extra Nursery worker to help. We call these “floaters.” Floaters only serve 3-4 times per year. If interested, email Erin Wyman.
  • KidsPointe Teacher: We need 1 KidsPointe Teacher. Would you be interested in teaching the Bible to kids during morning worship? If interested, email Erin Wyman.
  • AWANA Volunteer: We are currently seeking AWANA Leaders for the upcoming school year. Please consider joining this ministry opportunity to serve the children of High Pointe and their families. You can help children learn to hide God’s word in their hearts and learn more about the gospel! Please contact Travis Gilbert at awana@highpointeaustin.org for more information. All volunteers must complete High Pointe’s child protection screening process prior to serving. See Erin Wyman to get started.

Church Library

Library worker: We need people who are willing to serve our High Pointe family by helping patrons of our church library. It will only take a few minutes for us to train you how to help people find, check out, and check in materials. Email Julie Giles or call her at (512) 733-0963.

Media Team

Media Team Volunteers: We are in need of volunteers for lights, sound board, and slides for the media team. If interested, please email Marshall Canales.

Safety Team

Safety Team Volunteers: We are in need of men who are willing to lead, protect, and provide a safe worship environment for our church family and congregation. If you’re interested in serving on the team, email Robert Baldwin for more information.

Building Lock Up Team

Building Lock Up Volunteers: Men are needed to secure the building after both morning and evening services. Securing the building requires no more than 15-20 minutes to turn off lights, lock interior/exterior doors, and arm the system prior to exiting the building. If interested, please email Laywon Boatner or call him at 405-219-1709.

Other Volunteer Opportunities

  • Can You Speak Another Language?: An attempt to be well equipped to serve visitors to High Pointe we realized it would be beneficial to have on file which of our members can speak different languages. If you can speak another language other than English and Spanish please email Marshall Canales. In your email please state which language(s) you know and describe your level of fluency under one of these three categories (Basic, Conversational, Fluent).
  • Pflugerville Pregnancy Resource Center Volunteers: Volunteers work with clients at PfPRC. We are seeking six dedicated women who are willing to volunteer at least once a week (M-F) for four to six hours at a time. Interested candidates can visit the PfPRC website for more information and complete the volunteer application. If anyone has any questions, they can contact Brittany.
  • Mentor a Dessau Middle School Student: We’ve connected with Dessau Middle School to mentor students in a program we call “Pointes of Light.” Are you interested in mentoring a middle school student? If so, contact Nancy Benson ASAP for info and an application. If you’ve been a mentor before, you should have received an email from Carolyn LaTouf with instructions updating your application.
