This Fifth Sunday Night, June 30 | Life Group Fellowship & Outreach

So, being affectionately desirous of you, we were ready to share with you not only the gospel of God but also our own selves, because you had become very dear to us.

(1 Thessalonians 2:8, ESV)

This Sunday, June 30, is a fifth Sunday. Normally, on fifth Sundays instead of our usual evening gathering, we meet throughout the Austin metro area in regional fellowships. The purpose of these regional fellowships was to provide a venue for you to get to know those other High Pointe members who live close to you. However, this Sunday night we won’t meet for regional fellowship.
At our last members’ meeting, we announced a schedule change for Sunday evenings. Beginning in July, we will gather for our normal Sunday evening prayer service on the second and fourth Sunday of each month. On the first, third, and whenever there is a fifth Sunday, we will meet in Life Groups. Since we have a fifth Sunday this weekend, we thought we would go ahead and meet in Life Groups.
Think of fifth Sundays as your Life Group’s mini-regional fellowship (aka Life Group Fellowships). Our desire at High Pointe is to continually encourage you to see gospel community with one another as a normal part of the Christian life. Get together for a meal, host a game night, or even go out for ice cream as a group. It really doesn’t matter what you do so long as you are engaging with one another. We hope as a result of these gatherings that conversations where you experience mutual edification become a common theme in your relationships with one another.
If you prefer, plan a meal and invite your unchurched, unbelieving neighbors, friends, co-workers, or family. Use it as a time to show the Lord’s grace in your life and pray for an have an opportunity to share the gospel as your unbelieving guests witness gospel community before their very eyes. One of the most powerful witnesses to the transforming power of the gospel is how we Christians love one another and how we love others, including unbelievers.
At High Pointe, we want to see all peoples become whole-hearted followers of Jesus Christ. This requires that we live life together as a church, encouraging one another and discipling one another to the glory of God. It also requires that we be deliberate in our outreach efforts. This Sunday night, we will not meet for our regular evening service so that you may have an opportunity to encourage one another in your homes and/or reach out to those who do not know Christ. We pray that the Lord blesses these opportunities.
