Jesus Is the Promised King!
From Pastor Juan
The prophets had promised a king. Israel had awaited a king. And in Luke 19:28-44, Jesus revealed himself to be the promised King. He is the humble King who comes in peace to die on the cross and make a payment for sin. He is also the Lord, the divine Son of God who will accomplish all his holy will. Only God could save us, but to save us, there had to be a human representative to obey in our place and take the penalty of sin we owed. Jesus, the God-man, did that.
So, as Jesus revealed himself to Israel, his disciples gave him the “red-carpet” treatment. When we see and know who Jesus is for us, we too will lay down the red carpet and welcome him into our lives. What does it look like to offer Jesus the “red-carpet” treatment?
1. Joyfully WELCOME him into your life and heart as King.
This is what it means to become a Christian. This is what Jesus’s disciples did. The moment Jesus called them to follow him, they left everything. To recognize who Jesus is and give yourself fully, wholeheartedly to him. We bowed down to King Jesus and welcomed him into our life to rule over us.
Have you welcomed Jesus into your life?
2. Joyfully OFFER your life and possessions to King Jesus.
Jesus was Lord of the colt. So, when he asked his disciples to get it for him, Jesus was simply reclaiming what was already his. Likewise, Jesus wants our whole lives and hearts. He is to rule over us completely. Everything we are, everything we have, everything we do is to be under Jesus’s rule ready to serve him whenever he asks.
What does how you spend your time, energy, and money say about who or what rules your life?
3. Joyfully DECLARE Jesus as King and praise him before others.
Because Jesus’s disciples knew he was King, they announced his arrival as King as he entered Jerusalem. They rejoiced, honored him, and praised his name.
What does it look like for us to declare Jesus as King at home, work, school, when we gather together?
Jesus has revealed who he is for us, and he brings joy to those who receive him. “Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord.”

Gospel Partner of the Month: Liz Paine, Uganda
Our sister Liz Payne went to the mission field in her years of retirement to serve the brothers and sisters of Ssenge Baptist Church in Uganda. Serving alongside pastor Bosco Bukeera and his wife Heidi, Liz gives herself to discipling women, caring for the families in her community, and most recently, setting up a ministry Threads of Faith, where ladies are trained in sewing skills to be able to help provide for their families.
Liz is sent out by High Pointe Baptist Church and is a member of UFM Worldwide, a missions sending agency out of the United Kingdom. It is a joy to see our sister serve and hear of her work. Please pray for Liz that the Lord would sustain her health, give her stamina, and allow her to see fruitfulness from her gospel ministries.
