Look to the King

Ken Mbugua delivered an inspiring and thought-provoking message from Psalms 20 and 21 on Sunday morning. Later that evening in our prayer service, Brother Ken provided insight into how God is actively working to establish healthy churches throughout Kenya and Africa. For those interested in learning more, the Ekklesia Africa link and other links below offer additional information about leadership training for pastors in Africa.

We all experience days of distress and trouble as we navigate a broken world marked by the effects of sin—challenges faced by everyone, whether Christian or not. Brother Ken encouraged us to reflect on the faithfulness of our Heavenly Father, who has fulfilled all His promises, demonstrated most clearly in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The Bible stands as a continual testimony to God’s record of making and keeping his promises to his people, persisting through every hardship and seemingly impossible circumstance.

Throughout Scripture, God's faithfulness is declared again and again, giving Christians every reason to place their hope and trust in our God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

We can be assured that the King of love will be with us amid distress, because the King of Kings has won victory over sin and death on our behalf, has risen from the dead, and now sits at the Father’s right hand.

We are excited to welcome Austin and Sarah Kate (SK) Burns to High Pointe this week. They move here from Forth Worth and Trinity River Baptist Church where Austin has just completed an internship. Austin began work as Pastoral Associate of Discipleship on July 16. Look for Austin and SK on Sunday.

Volunteering in nursery or children’s ministry is a great way to get to know others at High Pointe and to serve our parents on Sunday mornings and other church gatherings.  Reach out to Erin at erin@highpointeaustin.org. God has blessed each of us with unique gifts and talents, and at High Pointe, we believe serving is how we use those gifts to bless others and advance His kingdom.

Whether you have 30 minutes a week or several hours, there's a place for you to serve in our children's ministry, as greeters, with the hospitality team, media/tech support, building and grounds, safety, community outreach efforts, and through administrative support.  Reach out to find out more today: info@highpointeaustin.org.

Summer Life Class | Sundays at 9AM
Life Classes are meant to equip High Pointe for life as a Christian. We encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity and join us. This session, we are offering the following Summer Life Class:

What Does It Mean to Be a Christian Today?
The way Christians live out their faith has always been affected by the culture and context around them. That’s as true for us today as it was for believers centuries ago. So how have Christians remained faithful in the face of changing times, challenges, and cultures? This summer, join us as we explore the lives of key figures from Church History and discover how they sought to follow Christ in their own era. Each week we’ll zoom in on a different individual (or group), considering their faithfulness, flaws, and what we can take away from their example.

Please note: There is no children’s ministry or nursery provided during the summer months.

Gospel Partner of the Month: Middle East Ministries
It is our joy to support one of our High Pointe families serving in the Middle East. We will not refer to them by name to protect their identity and location, but you may pray for them as you work through our membership directory.

Please pray that the Lord will give them favor and fruitfulness in their work. Pray that the Lord may send a like-minded and similar life-stage family (or two) to serve alongside them. And pray that we would care for and encourage them well.

On-Call Pastor
To better care for you, High Pointe, we have an “on-call” pastor available for emergencies after office hours and on weekends. To reach the on-call pastor, call 512-837-7725, extension 1.
