Remember Christ, the Better Lamb
Guyton Garland walked us through Exodus 12 and the Passover this past Sunday morning. He encouraged us to remind one another to put all our hope in the Lamb of God, Jesus Christ. Christ's sacrificial death in our place is our only hope in life and death. Guyton helped us understand that God saves his people through the better Lamb—Christ himself. Christ our Passover lamb has been sacrificed once for all who will turn from sin and trust in Christ alone.
Only in Christ is there forgiveness of our rebellion and sin, and freedom to live a life pleasing to God in the power of the Holy Spirit.
We saw clearly that when God delivered his people from Egypt, there was a death in every household. In homes where no lamb or goat's blood was shed, the Destroyer killed the firstborn. In the homes of obedient Israelites, a substitute death provided shed blood which was placed on the doorposts. The Destroyer passed over those homes.
All this is a bright flashing signal pointing to the Son of God. The Lamb of God died in the place of all who would believe in Christ. This substitute sacrificial death sets people free to serve the living God.
Our weekly celebration of the Lord's Supper reminds us that we also have been set free from the penalty and power of sin because of another's faithfulness in life and shed blood in death.
As Guyton prepares to move to Chicago, he encouraged High Pointe to continue helping one another persevere. We should remain faithful and actively wait as we journey toward the Promised Land—the New Heavens and Earth.
This week, prayerfully plan to encourage other High Pointe members. Reach out to someone and remind them of God's faithfulness to keep his promises.

Summer Life Class | Sundays at 9AM
Life Classes are meant to equip High Pointe for life as a Christian. We encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity and join us. This session, we are offering the following Summer Life Class: What Does It Mean to Be a Christian Today?
The way Christians live out their faith has always been affected by the culture and context around them. That’s as true for us today as it was for believers centuries ago. So how have Christians remained faithful in the face of changing times, challenges, and cultures? This summer, join us as we explore the lives of key figures from Church History and discover how they sought to follow Christ in their own era. Each week we’ll zoom in on a different individual (or group), considering their faithfulness, flaws, and what we can take away from their example.
Please note: There is no children’s ministry or nursery provided during the summer months.
