Marriage: A Good Gift from the Lord
On Sunday, our guest preacher, pastor Blake White, shared with us four pillars of a faithful marriage: an ongoing commitment to (1) Christ, (2) one another, (3) a life of repentance, and (4) a life of pursuit (of one another). These are helpful reminders that are rooted in Genesis 2:18-25; Ephesians 5:22-33; and other marriage pictures in Scripture. Additionally, these commitments are “baked into” marriage during the ceremony when a couple shares their vows publicly.
Because we are human and struggle with sin, we admit that we are imperfect in maintaining these commitments. Sadly, some have experienced such a breakdown or betrayal of those commitments that the marriage is in danger or even dissolved. The good news is that Jesus is our always-faithful, never-failing husband, though we are the faithless bride. And we can learn from him patience, forbearance, and forgiveness.
Wherever you find yourself in life (single or married), let’s look to Jesus, our faithful bridegroom. And let us love one another with the same sacrificial love with which he loved us. His willing self-sacrifice for those who did not deserve it or return it, is the definition of love. So, let us commit to Christ, and let us love one another as Christ loved us:
as brothers and sisters in Christ – Are you considering others better than yourself, looking for the best in them, not judging motives, quick to forgive?
as spiritual fathers/sons and mothers/daughters – Are you seeking to care for one another in the church as the new covenant family, discipling one another, bearing one another’s burdens?
as earthly husbands and wives and parents and children – Husbands, are you loving and cherishing your wife as Christ loves and cherishes the church? Wives, are you respecting and following your husband and the church follows Christ?
The purpose of earthly marriage is to point to the eternal marriage. Earthly marriage is temporary. It will pass. But now, we have the opportunity to show the world how Jesus loves his bride. May the Lord grant us the strength and grace to do so faithfully. For those who are struggling in your marriage, don’t walk alone. We want the opportunity to walk alongside you and help you and your marriage look more like the heavenly marriage.

Summer Life Class | Sundays at 9AM
Life Classes are meant to equip High Pointe for life as a Christian. We encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity and join us. This session, we are offering the following Summer Life Class:
What Does It Mean to Be a Christian Today?
The way Christians live out their faith has always been affected by the culture and context around them. That’s as true for us today as it was for believers centuries ago. So how have Christians remained faithful in the face of changing times, challenges, and cultures? This summer, join us as we explore the lives of key figures from Church History and discover how they sought to follow Christ in their own era. Each week we’ll zoom in on a different individual (or group), considering their faithfulness, flaws, and what we can take away from their example. Please note: There is no children’s ministry or nursery provided during the summer months.

Gospel Partner of the Month: North Africa – Team Expansion
We are privileged to partner with the K family in North Africa. For 15 years, the Ks have been reaching unbelievers in a predominantly Muslim country (99%). And yet, the body of Christ is growing in that nation.
Some ways you may be praying:
1. Pray for a healthy, fruitful church led by godly, growing, local leaders.
2. Pray for these believers/leaders, especially as they face unique opportunities and challenges.
3. Pray for the K family – for a Jesus-centered home and joyful hearts.
4. Pray for the K family’s financial provision.
On-Call Pastor
