Welcoming Visitors
High Pointe Family, you do such a great job of welcoming visitors each Sunday. Thank you for your practice of Christian hospitality. Our prayer is that we may grow even more in being a welcoming church. To that end, let me encourage you in these ways:
Come early and stay late. Many visitors coming to a new church will arrive early to find a seat. Many of our members arrive late. So, make every effort to come early to greet visitors as they arrive. Then, stay late to have conversations with them.
Seek out and engage visitors. When you are in the auditorium, look around for new faces, and engage with them. Introduce yourself. Welcome them officially to our gathering. Ask them if they have any questions.
Introduce them to someone else. Take an opportunity to help them make a connection by introducing them to someone that has something in common with them. If they are a college student, introduce them to another college student. If they are single, introduce them to other singles. If they speak Spanish, introduce them to other Spanish-speakers. You get the idea. It helps people to make a connection when they are visiting a church.
Show them around. Offer to show visitors where they need to go: nursery, restrooms, Life Classes, church office. While our building is simple and known to us, it can be confusing to visitors.
Guide them to the Connection Center. We have a Connection Center in the foyer staffed by a friendly group of volunteers. They are there to serve our visitors. Walk visitors to the Connection Center so they may fill out a card so we can know of their visit.
In God’s kindness, we receive a good number of visitors each week. You do such a great job of making them feel welcome, and we thank you for that. Let’s look for ways we can grow even more in showing the love of Christ through simple greetings and hospitality.
Opportunities to Serve
(For Opportunities to Serve at High Pointe, click HERE)
Volunteering in nursery or children’s ministry is a great way to get to know others at High Pointe and to serve our parents on Sunday mornings and other church gatherings. Reach out to Erin at erin@highpointeaustin.org.
God has blessed each of us with unique gifts and talents, and at High Pointe, we believe serving is how we use those gifts to bless others and advance His kingdom.
Whether you have 30 minutes a week or several hours, there's a place for you to serve in our children's ministry, as greeters, with the hospitality team, media/tech support, building and grounds, safety, community outreach efforts, and through administrative support. Please pray for those 90+ participants as they prepare to join us, and pray that it would be a fruitful time of encouragement. If you are interested in volunteering, reach out to Austin Burns at austin@highpointeaustin.org.
