Adventures in Missing the Point | Luke 9:37-50

Luke warns us that when we miss the point of Jesus’s identity (who he is) and mission (what he came to do), we will fail to live out the gospel faithfully. So, let me encourage us in this way. It’s OK to ask questions.

There is much we don’t know about Jesus. That means there is much room for growth. So, let us be curious Christians, going to God’s word, to other believers, to our pastors to ask the questions we have about Jesus and his mission.

Parents, redeem the time at home with your children. Teach them it’s OK to ask questions about Jesus and the Bible. When they ask questions, take them to God’s word and teach them how to find the answers. Establish a regular time of Bible reading and prayer, giving time for questions. And regularly ask your children, “Is there anything you want to talk about?”

Satan seeks to blind us to who Jesus is and what he came to do. But Jesus has opened our eyes, removed the veil, and answers our questions by his word, his Spirit, and his church: one another.

Gospel Partner of the Month: Reaching and Teaching International Ministries – B.M.
Reaching & Teaching International Ministries (RTIM) seeks to advance the gospel by partnering with local churches as they send qualified missionaries to make mature disciples, establish healthy churches, and train local leaders around the world.

You may know of RTIM because we sent Davey and Callie Davis and the P family through this sending organization. This month, we want to highlight our support for B.M. B and his wife served for seven years as missionaries in Central Asia, working in evangelism, discipleship, and church planting. After returning to the US, B spent six years as a global trainer, traveling around the world to equip international church leaders for ministry. He desires to see the gospel spread and churches established among the nations of Central Asia. B is a graduate of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He and his wife have three children.
