Walking in the Light of the LORD
The Call and the Promise
Isaiah 2:5 urges us to walk in the light of the LORD—an invitation pointing toward Revelation 21:23, where Jesus will illuminate the New Jerusalem and we'll walk in His radiance everywhere. Until that day, what does walking in the light look like for us at High Pointe today?
Wholehearted Following is Walking in the Light
John provides the clearest explanation in 1 John 1:5-7: "God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin."
Walking in light means following Jesus Christ, who declared, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life" (John 8:12). This involves surrendering our old ways and allowing the Holy Spirit to guide us as we apply Scripture to every area of life.
Living the Great Requirement
Walking in light includes following Micah 6:8's Great Requirement: "He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?"
Genuine Fellowship
Walking in light produces genuine fellowship with God and fellow believers, creating authentic community rooted in truth. Jesus' blood continuously cleanses us from sin—not making us perfect, but sustaining us in ongoing confession, repentance and grace.
Our transformed lives testify to those in darkness. As Matthew 5:14-16 teaches, we shine as lights pointing others to God's glory.
The Heart of the Journey
Walking in the light centers on intimate relationship with Jesus Christ, allowing His Word to transform our lives while reflecting His character to a world needing hope. This remains our calling and joy as we await perfect light in His eternal presence.

Summer Life Classes Start THIS Sunday June 8
Life Classes are meant to equip High Pointe for life as a Christian. We encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity and join us. This session, we are offering the following Summer Life Class:
What Does It Mean to Be a Christian Today?
The way Christians live out their faith has always been affected by the culture and context around them. That’s as true for us today as it was for believers centuries ago. So how have Christians remained faithful in the face of changing times, challenges, and cultures? This summer, join us as we explore the lives of key figures from Church History and discover how they sought to follow Christ in their own era. Each week we’ll zoom in on a different individual (or group), considering their faithfulness, flaws, and what we can take away from their example.
Please note: There is no children’s ministry or nursery provided during the summer months.
