High Pointe Baptist Church Pastoral Internship Program
PURPOSE:
The High Pointe Baptist Church (HPBC) internship is designed to assist men who desire to grow in their understanding of the Bible, the church, and how the gospel intersects with everyday life. The internship is for men who have a desire to go into pastoral ministry.
Our internship is 5 months long and provides unique learning opportunities including reading, writing, observing, and serving.
Housing will be provided, as as well as a stipend. Interns will be expected in the office on full-time. The internship is a semester-long commitment, and will be offered in the fall (August-December) and the spring (January-May).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assignments
You will have weekly assignments from books, articles, and other resources due at a relatively fast pace. HPBC will supply all books. The reading will come from a wide variety of subjects and doctrines, immersing the intern in many areas of systematic, historical, and biblical theology. Interns will be responsible for writing response papers on a regular basis.
Elder Meetings
Interns will be expected to attend HPBC elder meetings on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of every month. Your role in these meetings is to observe. You should not chime in with wisdom unless you are invited to do so. As you observe, you are encouraged to consider how you would handle topics that come up if you were an elder.
Staff Meeting and Service Review
Staff meeting (all staff) takes place on the 1st Tuesday of each month, while service review happens on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Tuesdays of the month (ministry staff only). During these meetings, we pray for church members, coordinate calendars, review all services from the previous Sunday, and provide insights for the upcoming Sunday sermon.
Lunches
The interns will have lunch with Juan monthly. Interns are encouraged to seek out opportunities to have meals with other staff members and elders throughout their time at High Pointe.
Evening Prayer Service
Prayer services take place on 2nd and 4th Sunday evenings at 5pm.
Member Meetings
Interns are required to attend member meetings. They take place every other 4th Sunday evening.
