A Busy Week at High Pointe

Pray for fruit from VBS

After two years, we are able to host our Vacation Bible School (VBS) this week. As I write, we’re preparing for our Monday night meeting. By the time you read this, Lord willing, we will be preparing for Family Night on Wednesday, where we will welcome family members and have an opportunity to share the gospel.

VBS is one of only a few intentional outreach opportunities we plan. Would you pray that the Lord would allow us to grow in our outreach efforts to our community? And would you pray that the Lord would allow us to see fruit from our efforts?

Welcome the Brannens

Jesse Brannen is one of our gospel partners. He serves as the lead pastor of Immanuel Church in Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Jesse and his family will be visiting High Pointe this weekend. On Saturday at 2:00 p.m., Jesse will be at the church building to meet with High Pointe members interested in the gospel work in Fujairah. If you are available, I encourage you to come at 2 pm to meet Jesse.

Sunday Night Prayer Gathering, 5:00 PM

Remember, we gather every second and fourth Sunday evening at 5:00 pm for prayer. On Sunday night, I will interview Jesse Brannen, and he will be giving our evening devotional. Join us as we pray for one another, the ministry of the Word at High Pointe, and the work of the gospel around the world.

The SBC Annual Meeting in Anaheim
June 13-15, 2022

Would you please pray for the annual meeting of the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) in Anaheim, California next week? We are sending three messengers: Jeanine Sanchez, Chris Parker, and myself. The weightiest matter to address will be the SBC’s response to the Sexual Abuse Task Force’s report. Pray that the Lord would give the messengers wisdom in the decisions we must make. Pray that Christ would be exalted, that the victims would feel heard and cared for, and that the various leaders throughout our convention of churches would welcome whatever steps they must implement to protect the vulnerable from sexual abuse.

Finally, would you pray for me. I have been assigned to preach the convention sermon. It is a great privilege but also a tremendous responsibility. After much prayer and consultation with our elders, other pastors, and friends, I have decided to preach Ephesians 4:11-16. Pray that the Lord may fill me with his Spirit as I preach and that I may be used by the Lord to encourage our convention of churches toward greater biblical health and practice.

Love,
