Only A Prayer Meeting?

Prayer Service
This Sunday at 5:00 PM

Charles Spurgeon took issue with those who thought gathering together for prayer was “only” a
prayer meeting. No! Prayer is God’s people joining God in accomplishing his will. Jesus teaches
us to pray for the glory of God’s name, the expansion of God’s kingdom, and the embrace of
God’s will. God delights in accomplishing his plans through the prayers of his people. So, when
we gather as a church to pray every second and fourth Sunday night, we are waging war against
Satan and joining God in expanding his kingdom.

Would you make every effort to join us this Sunday night at 5:00 PM? We will pray for
evangelistic opportunities, gospel partners, one another, the ministry of the church, and sit under
the preaching of God’s word as we work our way through 1 Peter.

Sister Church Focus: Kinney Avenue Christian Fellowship
Please pray for pastor Josh Hayward and Kinney Avenue Christian Fellowship. About five years
ago, we sent Josh to revitalize KACF. By God’s grace, the Lord has allowed that revitalization to
come to fruition. Pray that the Lord will raise up more elders, bring in new members, and give
them favor in their community.

Pray also for me, pastor Juan, as I am scheduled to preach there this Sunday during their morning
service. My aim is to encourage KACF and Josh to continue their devotion to the Lord, his word,
and one another.

Cuba Mission Trip | March 14-19, 2024
Would you like to see the gospel work High Pointe is engaged in in Cuba, the seminary we
helped start in Santa Clara, and our partnership with Predica Fiel in Havana? Then join us for
this brief vision trip to Cuba. March 14 and 19 will be travel days, so we will be on the ground
from the 15-18. Our plan is to fly into Santa Clara to be a part of First Baptist Church Santa
Clara’s anniversary celebration that weekend. Then, on Sunday afternoon, we will travel to
Havana to learn about Predica Fiel and spend Monday in Havana. We will return on the 19 from
Havana.

If you are interested in going, let Pastor Juan know (juan@highpointeaustin.org). You will need
to cover the cost of the flights (between $400-500), hotel ($50-100/night), and food ($100-$200).
Also, you will want to bring extra cash for miscellaneous expenditures. High Pointe has set aside
$500 for members who have never gone on a mission trip. If that’s you, take advantage of it.

Cuba interest meeting, Sunday, February 18, after the morning service in the new members’
classroom on the first floor.

High Pointe Men’s Work Day | Saturday, February 10 at 8:00 AM
Men of High Pointe! Please join us on Saturday, February 10 for a work day aimed at caring for
our church building and grounds. The Lord has blessed us with this beautiful facility, and we
want to steward it well. We plan to start the work day at 8 AM, and it will be a full day of
discarding foliage, painting various rooms, and generally organizing and cleaning the church
building. If you have tools that would come in handy for painting, please bring these to the work
day. Please reach out to Paul Wargo or Robin Diddams for more information.

Life Classes | Sundays at 9:00 AM
Life Classes are meant to equip High Pointe for life as a Christian. We encourage you to take
advantage of this opportunity and join us. This session, we are offering the following classes
from January 28 to March 10:
  • A Survey of the NT from Acts to Revelation (Livingston Room) | This class will
explore the New Testament from Acts to Revelation under the theme of the king and his
kingdom.  This class will provide us with a general knowledge and understanding of the
early church, important theological themes, and how it applies to our daily lives.

  • Panorama General del NT: Hechos – Judas (East Training Room) | Una clase para
equiparnos con un conocimiento general de los libros acerca de la Iglesia primitiva,
explorando temas teológicos importantes y como impactan nuestras vidas diarias.

  • Kids Life Class (Overflow Room/Old Mission Room) | We also offer childcare and a
Life class for Kids, K-5th grade, that uses The Gospel Project, a study that “helps kids
dive deep into the big story of the Bible – God’s plan to rescue His people through His
Son, Jesus Christ”.

Sunday mornings as well.

Giving at High Pointe
God is generous, and so he calls us to be as well. What we do with what God has given us shows
the world where our hearts are and helps proclaim the gospel. We want to glorify God in every
area of our lives, including what we do with our finances. But as you may have noticed, we do
not take up a collection on Sundays at High Pointe. Consequently, we’ve been receiving
questions as to how to give. There are several ways you may give:

1. Offering Boxes in Auditorium – You may place your offering in an offering box.
2. Mail – You may mail your contribution to the church office.
3. Text/Online – You may give by texting 84321 (it will require a first-time setup).
4. Your Bank – You may give through your own bank via Bill Pay or ACH.

If you have any questions, go to this LINK. Our financial staff is also available to help or answer
your questions. You may call the church office at 512-837-7725.

On-Call Pastor
To better care for you, High Pointe, we have an “on-call” pastor available for emergencies after
office hours and on weekends. To reach the on-call pastor, call 512-837-7725, extension 1.
Preaching Schedule: Pray regularly for the ministry of the Word at High Pointe. Also, prepare
