DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME CHANGE THIS SUNDAY

Engaging Our Neighbors
This Saturday, November 5, we will gather at 10:00 am in the foyer of our building to pray for our neighbors. We will then go out and go door to door to introduce ourselves and pray for our neighbors. Our aim is to share the good news of Christ with the community around our building.

Each time we go, the Lord encourages us. Will you join us this Saturday at 10:00 am?

CHANGE YOUR CLOCKS
This Saturday night (November 5), we “fall” back. This is a reminder to change your clocks back before going to bed. We will have a normal schedule this Sunday:
  • 9:00 AM          Life Classes
  • 10:00 AM        Morning Gathering
  • 5:00 PM          Life Groups

Life Classes (October 30 - December 11)
We resumed a new cycle of Life Classes last Sunday. If you missed Life Classes last Sunday, its OK. Make plans now to attend at 9:00 am.
  • Compelling Community
    • The Bible speaks regularly about the unity of the church, and of the importance of protecting that unity (Eph 4:3). At the same time, the Bible also describes the diversity of gifts that God gives to his church (1 Cor 12-14), as well as the rich diversity of people that make up the church (Eph 2:11-3:13). Thus, the church enjoys a rich unity-in-diversity—a supernatural fellowship brought about in Christ and by the Holy Spirit. Given these theological realities, what is our role, as God’s people, in pursuing this vision of God-given unity amidst diversity? How do we enjoy unity around the gospel that transcends natural boundaries that so often divide people? This class will explore the kind of unity-in-diversity we should pursue as a church.
  • God’s Good World (The Doctrine of Creation)
    • Though we can see the effects of sin all around us, the beauty of God’s creation still shines in the things that he’s made. The world is, in Calvin’s words, a “theater of God’s glory.” What can we learn about God and about ourselves from the doctrine of creation? What can divine providence teach us about enduring trials with patience and facing the future with hope instead of worry? This class will explore the doctrines of creation, providence, and humanity, all with an eye toward how such teaching profits us in our pilgrimage of faith.
  • Meaningful Membership Class
    • The first step in pursuing membership at High Pointe is to attend the membership class. The class can be completed over the course of three sessions, which cover the following topics:
      • What is the Church & Why Should I Join?
      • What Does High Pointe Believe?
      • What You Need To Know About High Pointe
      • What Does High Pointe Expect of Church Members?
  • Kid’s Life Class: The Gospel Project for Kids
    • In addition to our adult Life Classes (9 am), we offer 1 Kids’ Life Class for children (K-5th grade). In our Kids’ Life Class, we utilize, The Gospel Project that walks kids through the sweep of biblical redemptive history. This Kids’ Life Class is available whenever the adult classes are taking place.

Children’s Catechism Class | 2nd and 4th Sunday Evenings
Our children’s catechism class for ages 3 years to 5th grace are taking place on the 2nd and 4th Sunday night. We will all gather at 5:00 pm in the auditorium to sing together. Then, the children and teachers will be dismissed. This is a wonderful opportunity for families with young children to help your children store a wealth of Scripture and doctrine.

On Call Pastor
In an effort to better care for High Pointe, we have begun to identify an “on-call” pastor. The purpose of the on-call pastor is to have a pastor available for emergencies outside of office hours. We will announce each week who the on-call pastor is for the coming week and put it in the service order card and in this e-news. To reach the on call pastor, call 512-837-7725, extension 1. Here is the upcoming schedule:
  • 30 Oct – 05 Nov | Pastor Robert Baldwin
  • 06 – 12 Nov | Pastor Brady Bowman
  • 13 – 19 Nov | Pastor Davey Davis
  • 20-26 Nov | Pastor Juan Sanchez

Preaching Schedule: We encourage you to regularly pray for the ministry of the Word at High Pointe. Also, take time to prepare for our gatherings by reading the sermon text, thinking through it, and asking questions of the text before Sunday. Parents, this is a helpful way to prepare your family for Sunday mornings. Here is a schedule of upcoming sermons:
  • November 6 | James 4:1-12, pastor Davey Davis
  • November 13 | NEW Sermon Series – ORDINARY: God’s Supernatural Work through Ordinary Means

Love,
